iOS 8 not compatible..

The game looked very fun but the game just doesnt work on iOS 8 at all! Tried with multiple devices but its always the same thing, the screen goes black as soon as I try to start a mission.. :(

Not iOS 8 compatible

I used to enjoy this game. Although it wasnt terribly deep in terms of story or character, it was rather challenging. Unfortunately the developers abandoned the game and it no longer works. DO NOT BUY.

Does not work on is 8

Lots of good reviews, but just wont even start. Black screen.

I love squad tactics games, but I gave up on this mess

The nicest thing I can say about this game is that if you love leading a small squad of soldiers to victory one turn at a time, Tactical Soldier is one of the few iOS games in that genre. (UPDATE: four years later, Xcom is on iPad so its extra nuts to play this). It is horribly flawed and shallow. The game mechanics are insultingly simplistic and counter-intuitive. The 3D graphics are ugly and the controls are awkward. This game is absolutely NOT worth $5. Heres a partial list of whats wrong with this game if youre still tempted: - You will have to waste grenades to finish off single, injured zombies, because you will often find that you have enough action points left to pull the pin on a grenade and throw it, but NOT to shoot a zombie again AFTER YOU JUST SHOT IT. Jagged Alliance figured out that follow up shots should cost less in like 1993 - whats this games excuse? - The inventory system is AWFUL. Each soldier can only carry ammo for the single gun that hes allowed to have. Every weapon or ammo dropped by zombies only shows up as GREEN SPARKLES. This forces you to send a guy to check what type of ammo was dropped, and THEN send over the guy who actually uses that weapon so he can pick it up - heaven forbid that the shotgun guy be allowed to pick up rifle ammo! Each soldier has two special inventory slots for stat-boosting equipment, but its needlessly difficult to tell if the random Medal of Marginally Improved Accuracy you just found is better than what one of your other soldiers is using, and the guy who finds it cant actually pick it up without replacing one of his active items. THIS IS POSSIBLY THE WORST INVENTORY SYSTEM IN ANY GAME I HAVE EVERY PLAYED IN 30 YEARS OF GAMING. - Reloading your gun requires precious action points, but you cant reload a gun unless it is totally empty. And you cant just empty the gun out by shooting at a wall so you can reload, because you can ONLY shoot at "live" zombies! Being forced to enter another zombie-filled room with only one shot left in my soldiers machine gun is one of the worst design flaws in a squad tactics game I have ever seen. - Soldiers all start off identical. Skill points are shared by the squad, and you have to ration them out. Youre only allowed to improve a skill by one rank after each level (so you cant just dump all your points into your favorite soldiers accuracy so that at least ONE of these TRAINED SOLDIERS can actually shoot accurately), but this still encourages you to concentrate points in your best soldiers and neglect others. - I deleted this game midway through the campaign, but it seems like you never get more than three soldiers in your squad, and its game over if any die. - Enemies often magically pop into existence right beside your soldiers when they are triggered by a story event (such as finishing a tough battle that you havent had any time to heal from). Theres no "Oh no! The zombies are using the teleporter!" excuse for this, just cheap game design. Remember playing Turok on N64? Remember how frustrating it was how you could charge up that really powerful BFG weapon that did huge splash damage, but then some random enemy would spawn right in front of you and you had to either let him kill you, or shoot the BFG at him killing both of you in the giant explosion? Yeah, this is like that but worse. - The games 3D graphics are ugly and awkward. Your soldiers all look comically old (maybe thats why they cant shoot straight?) and "special" in the character screen. On my iPhone 4, you need to zoom the camera in very close to able to move your soldiers accurately (its tough to tap your soldiers intended destination even once, but the game requires a second confirmation tap before he moves), and then zoom back out to actually be able to see anything. Just using clear, simple 2D graphics from a fixed perspective would have pushed this game up to a 2 star rating. + On the bright side, I do LIKE the way that guns have different firing arcs, with each zombie in the arc having a chance to be shot. This is a surprisingly satisfying and elegant way to represent spraying a room full of zombies with a machine gun. (But theres friendly fire, and its difficult to tell if your other soldiers are in the shotguns comically wide spread. And grenades splash damage indicator doesnt even try to be accurate, since you get hit with shrapnel from a grenade that looked safely distant in the tutorial and you get laughed at for it.)

Does not run on new iOS.

Was an interesting game when it worked. But now the game has been abandoned and will not run on iOS 8 and any iOS after.

Ripped off...

I bought this game, after iOS 8, because it was still on the App Store. I was never able to play it. I paid for a game that doesnt work. I cant even get my money back. Id rather just play the game though. Do not buy this game!

TacSol

Great game. Just a bit short. I want more.. More... MORE... MORE BRAINS. Well a fell more levels would not go amiss.

Great game

As per title, its a great game: very fun, very tactical, and with great graphics. 4 stars only because the second mission costs 3.99€: in game purchases should cost less... Anyhow, I bought it...

Well Done!! - Except that it is broken in iOS 8+.

While the research and strategy parts of X-Com were great, I had the most fun with the tactical part. This is that, and quite well done. I have not gotten very far but am enjoying what I have seen so far. Hopefully Fallout is next. Updated with sad news. The game appears to be broken in iOS8.

Wont let me play

I was dying to play this game until after I play the cutscenes for the tutorial I hit skip and it blacks out and the music still plays it wont kick me out it just sits their I was waiting for three hours and it still wasnt letting me play so I hit reset the game still aint letting me play so that was a waste of money so this game is 0 out of 10 this is getting one star until its fixed sorry

Awesome Turn Based Strategy

Must buy. Well worth it.

Decent game

I love tactical games and this one grabs my attention more than others so I think its a great game

Great game

Im giving it 5 stars with hope you will keep adding campaigns. Played this game for hours its a lot of fun. My only issue is some of the % on hitting. Ill have a 95% chance to hit at point blank range and miss not once but twice. Other than that I find myself checking the updates to see if the next chapter is released.

More turn based tactics!!!!!!!!

I like this, I want more..........anyone remember Gladius? There are not enough of this style of game.

Love it! 5 starts except for...

I did not give it 5 stars because the original campaign is to short. finish it in a few hours about 7 small levels. I wanted more right away. otherwise 5 stars.

Lord of section8

Did i take a crazy pill this morning? This game is what i would prescribe to a person who is trying to quit gaming. The "tactics" are bunch of constricted nonsense limited to 2 by 2 hallways, the interface is infuriatingly unwieldy, and the character customization is trash. There is a constant sense of dread as what painful disappointment this game will present next. The game should be retitled "tactical annoyance: rise of your blood pressure".

Excellent tactical strategy game

An enjoyable strategy adventure. Controls take a little getting used to, and make sure to use your skill points for each character - they can only be done in between levels, and each skill can only go up 1 per level up.

Awful

Very unforgiving. No tactics involved. If its free get it otherwise pass.

Mediocre at best

Passable job of simplifying turn-based tactics for iOS, but not nearly worth $5. Generic graphics, hackneyed theme, shoddy controls. Second campaign is available for purchase, but Im just deleting the app instead.
